Once on the Forest Service/public lands hop into the stream anywhere and fish for pan sized brook trout. The stream continues on at the hairpin turn, but if you stay on the road as past this point you'll end up fishing Firebox Creek. The lower river has beaver ponds mixed in with the river fishing.
Drys: #12-16 Wulffs, Humpies, Stimulators, Caddis, Trudes and other dry attractors. Nymphs: #14-16 Prince, Pheasant Tail, Copper John, GR Hare's Ear, and all version of Gold bead nymphs. Try the Dry Dropper technique in this river.
4-5 Wt. rods 8-9' long rule the day. Can get brushy, so the smaller rods come in handy.
