Most Recent Angler Reports

Cimarron River

Added By: Pat Hooley at 08/08/2008 7:47 PM
Their Report: Fished above the reservoir on Thursday and had good success with the dry dropper on water that had not been fished in the previous 1-2 hours. Water levels are very friendly to wet wading.
Flies/Methods Used: #14 Royal Wulff, Variant, PMD with #18 Copper John dropper

Uncompahgre River - Town

Added By: Nam Le at 08/08/2008 12:33 PM
Their Report: Going down to the west main section about 5 every night this week and it is fishing very very well. Mostly fishing on top with caddis patterns. any pattern will do. If you miss the fish the first time, change flies and you probably can get him to come up again. Look for back eddies, seams, cutbanks, flat water.
Flies/Methods Used: x-caddis, elk hair caddis

Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Added By: Nam Le at 07/30/2008 1:23 PM
Their Report: East portal is fishing well IF you know where the fish tend to stack up and where the under water structures are at. Fish weren't keying in on anything specific. I changed flies every several minutes and caught something on pretty much random flies.
Flies/Methods Used: Scuds, caddis, copper johns, midges. What ever patterns you may have of these flies.

Colorado River - Upper

Added By: Alan Carmichael at 07/28/2008 11:10 AM
Their Report: The water on the upper Colorado is very clear and at a very nice level to float and fish. The fishing is fair, but a bit slow. Not much on the surface at this time but some caddis and hopper activity. The river is very busy with rafters and fishing boats. The flows are excellent for floating and this is a great stretch for a fun, non-technical whitewater.
Flies/Methods Used: Stone nymphs, caddis nymphs

Cimarron River

Added By: Pat Hooley at 07/25/2008 11:32 AM
Their Report: Fished the lower Cimarron near the State Wildlife area on July 24. The flow was an excellent level with very good clarity. We took the bigger fish with the Halfback deep and many small fish on the dry-dropper. The fishing was ok, but not epic. There were many great looking runs and pocket water that should have produced fish, but didn't. Surprisingly, there wasn't much hopper action in the bushes along the banks.
Flies/Methods Used: #12 Halfback nymph, #12 yellow Stimulator with #16 bh Prince dropper.

Black Canyon/Gunnison Gorge

Added By: Alan Carmichael at 07/21/2008 11:28 AM
Their Report: Did an evening float from Pleasure Park downstream and picked up fish on hoppers. It was a quiet evening with virtually no hatches or risers, but we did find pockets of hungry fish. Not much on the droppers. Fished from the boat the whole time, didn't nymph at all. Nothing like the canyon at dusk for shear tranquility.
Flies/Methods Used: Stalcup's green hopper, Streambank hopper

Cimarron River

Added By: Pat Hooley at 07/19/2008 12:38 PM
Their Report: Fished the river below the dam and did reasonably well nymphing with the flies listed below. The river is flowing with a lot of velocity as the lake is still spilling so there is about 200-300 cfs in the river. The water is a bit off color, but very fishable.
Flies/Methods Used: #12 red San Juan worm with a #16 flashback bh Pheasant Tail, #16 Purple Prince,
