From Montrose, head North 9 miles to Falcon Road. It becomes
Peach Valley road as you head toward the adobe hills and canyon
rim. (watch the weather, as the roads get pretty mucky after
a storm) se the BLM Map of the Gorge

Lower Gorge/Lower Gunnison/Confluence
Smith Fork ...Down to the confluence...
...confluence down to Austin.
|
| How to get
there |
Take Hwy 92 out of Delta.
Pass through the Reed/Austin area until you see the BLM sign
for the Gunnison Forks area. This is also the same turn off for
the Gunnison River Pleasure Park. Proceed down the oiled gravel
road until you get to the BLM area and Restroom. At low flows
you can cross theNorth Fork of the Gunnison and fish up the main
fork of the Gunnison. The Confluence Hole, the Mine Hole, and
the Power Line areas are fished heavily. At lower flows seek
out the slower water. |
| Helpful hints & techniques |
Work the edges with big ugly stones,
especially the fast aerated water if nothing is happening topside! |
