Several reports of midge fishing at Pleasure Park, the Uncompahgre through town and at Paco. This spring-like weather is forecast to continue for the next 10 days, so get out there and see what is happening. Baetis can't be far off.

Fly Fishing Show

The Black Canyon Fly Fishing Show happens tomorrow, March 6 from 9-4 at the Montrose County Fair Grounds in Friendship Hall. There will be hourly fishing programs, exhibitors, vendors, 40+ local and regional fly tyers and casting ponds. There will also be a great youth program involving knot-tying, fly tying and casting clinics. $5 raffle tickets are available to win a custom made Terry Russell bamboo rod as well as bucket raffles. The show will be followed at 6 pm with a banquet and silent auction. Tickets for the banquet are $20 for adults and $8 for youths. Tickets are available for the raffle and banquet at Cimarron Creek and at the show.

Gunnison Gorge - Walk Wade

Paco-chu-puk

Paco-chu-puk is our version of Disneyland®. River structure, holes and runs have been created in the riever below the Ridgway Dam in Ridgway State Park, considered one of the crown jewels in the Start Park System. Rainbows, Cutthroats, and Brown trout. For the Novice or the expert, "Paco" has a lot to offer.

Cimarron River

Cimarron Forks

The Cimarron River, above Silverjack Reservoir, has three forks. The setting is gorgeious! The East and Middle forks are the most productive and combine to flow into Silvejack. These are small streams with small fish, including Rainbows, Cutthroats and Cutbows. From the Novice to intermediate, this is an amazing fly fishing experience.

San Miguel River

The Illium Valley

The San Miguel is a beautiful freestone, free flowing river with headwaters above Telluride and the Illium Valley. Experience the amazing, windshield splattered caddis hatches and catch the Rainbow, Cutthroat, Brown and Brook trout that live in all parts of the San Miguel. This is pocketwater fishing at its finest!
